VilaFoia was established in 2009, but it was in 2022 when current owners, Michel and Henk took ownership of the place and created a fantastic place where everyone is welcome and can unwind in this mountain paradise.
Location
VilaFoia - a fantastic rural bed and breakfast - is located on the slopes of the Algarve's highest mountain, just outside of Monchique village. VilaFoia was named after the mountain and claims to have one of the most stunning views to the south. From its balconies and its well kept terraced garden the views unfold all the way to the Atlantic coast.
Facilities
The rooms are furnished with large comfortable beds, built in wardrobes and all have a private bathroom. The larger rooms-suitable for families-also have a kitchenette. Most rooms have a balcony with fantastic views towards to coast. The hotel was full at the time of our visit so unfortunately we ended up in the only room facing the back gardens however the terraced garden have plenty of places to relax and admire the views. There is also a pool and sunbeds, for the warm days and you can book an hour long slot in the outside jacuzzi with unrestricted views all the way to the coast.
There is an indoor communal sitting area where you can play games or chill out with friends.
Activities from VilaFoia
VilaFoia is a perfect base if you want to explore some trails in the Monchique mountains. The hotel welcomes walkers and bikers and you can easily access some trails from the hotel. You can book a yoga class held outside on the decked terrace on certain dates and other activities in the area can also be booked with the help of the friendly staff. Whether you are looking to spend a few relaxing or active days the hotel will provide a good base.
Dining
There is a buffet style continental breakfast, presented in an appetizing way. You will find fresh fruit juice, tea, coffee, fresh pastry as well as yoghurt, cereal, bread, jam, ham, cheese, and eggs made in several ways for order.
You can also order packed lunch for your hike if you don’t want to go to the supermarket.
Reasonable priced pool snacks and drinks are available in the afternoon but the hotel generally doesn’t serve evening meals. However on request a chef is hired to cook for groups.
There are several excellent restaurants where you can dine on tasty local food only a short drive or taxi ride away in Monchique.
Getting to VilaFoia
If you have your own transport, take the narrow winding road from Monchique, there is a small private parking place to park your car. But if you don’t want to hire a car, the hotel can arrange a pick up even from the airport.
